Jen Ruiz Kohn
Jen has found working with dogs and their amazing families extremely fulfilling, especially during a time of much turmoil and uncertainty in the world. She looks forward to continuing to expand her knowledge of dog training and behavior and feels fortunate to have joined such a passionate and committed team of dog lovers.
While Jen adores dogs of all sizes, breeds and mixes, she has a specific affinity for dogs suffering from fear aggression and often misunderstood breeds like Pit Bulls, Rottweilers and Doberman pinschers. She has fostered Pit Bulls for a rescue in the Bay Area, and became well-versed in many different training philosophies and techniques while working with her own Pit Bulls for fourteen years.
By way of background, Jen worked in the event and floral design world for the past ten years. Prior to that, she graduated from law school in San Diego where she worked for the Public Defender’s office. Before law school she worked in the corporate (private equity and medical device), legal and nonprofit sectors and studied Sociology and Political Science at CU Boulder.
Since joining Buddy in May 2020, Jen has led nearly 200 Dog Pack Outings. She took on Buddy’s marketing and social media presence until November when Tasha Rose joined the team. During the summer, Jen helped Lilith launch Buddy’s Puppy Foundations, small group puppy socialization and training classes. A major highlight for Jen has been to learn and work with Lilith as her training assistant on recall training with handsome George, a black and tan Springer spaniel rescue and Red, an adorable Aussie, born deaf. Through the combined hard work of Team Buddy and Jen, George and Red have made remarkable progress.
