Basic Puppy Exercises

Service Description

This class is foundational for every other basic obedience and socialization class! I will introduce marker/clicker training and positive reinforcement. Equipped with these tools we will practice the 3 most important exercises for successful puppy education: Hand Targeting, Eye Contact and Name Recognition. Hand targeting is one of the most important cues and the basic tool to teach commands like, “up” and, “off” and the important recall command, “come.” Teaching your puppy that his name is actually a cue is often not recognized and/or trained. A dog who has learned that looking back to his handler will be rewarded will check in frequently and you will hold his attention more successfully. You will also learn how to introduce a word, cue or hand signal as a command. All of these tools will help guide your dog through the world with confidence and empower you to master advanced obedience training. As with all Buddy Puppy Foundations classes, you will have the opportunity to socialize your puppy in a safe environment and ask questions about behavior challenges during a 30-minute Q&A session after the class.
