Scent work is a fantastic activity for dogs as it engages their innate hunting instincts! This engaging pursuit not only provides scientifically proven health benefits but also enhances the bond between handler and dog.
What is K9 Nose Work
In K9 Nose Work®, dogs are trained to detect specific odors and locate their sources. Initially, dogs search for their favorite food or toy rewards hidden in various environments. As they advance, the complexity of the challenges increases, and new search skills are introduced. Concurrently, handlers learn to recognize the distinct body language cues exhibited by their dogs during searches and become adept at identifying when their dogs indicate the source of the scent.
