Socalization Classes

This part of socialization should already start at the breeder early on but unfortunately, many puppies arrive at their forever home anxious or reactive to touch.

In this class, I will focus on teaching you the techniques of handling so that your puppy will love being touched or at least will tolerate it. Your dog needs to learn to accept touch from you and from strangers. 
    
Preventing body sensitivity has many practical applications to your dog's life in the future. Two of the most important ones are grooming and being handled during veterinarian visits. We will cover basic grooming like nail clipping and muzzle training too.

As with all Buddy’s Puppy Foundations classes, you will have the opportunity to socialize your puppy in a safe environment and ask questions about behavior challenges during a 30-minute Q&A session after the class.

Many things can frighten puppies: Vacuum cleaners, barking dogs, loud uncommon noises, and the behavior of young children - to name just a few! There are ways to minimize your puppy’s fear and technics to handle scary situations and eventual reactivity constructive.

This class will teach you strategies and techniques that support the development of confidence that puppies need to overcome their fears and explore the world. Understanding the body language of your dog and compassion for the feelings of your dog is crucial to react appropriately to your dog's behavior.

One of the greatest joys of owning a puppy is watching them interact with children. Without good training and practice though, such interactions can result in unpleasant and sometimes tragic results. Training the child as well as the puppy is essential for safe interactions. 

   

Would you like your kids to know how to best interact with dogs? This class is for kids and puppies! Your children will learn how and when to approach a dog and play safely, while you learn how to handle and introduce puppies to children. Attending puppies will get more familiar with the unique movements and sounds of children.

Puppies love to play and you probably love to watch your puppy play or engage with him in play. Playing is an essential part of learning social skills with other dogs and humans. But what behaviors are appropriate for your puppy to display and which situations should you avoid?

The goal of this class is to help you analyze your puppy’s play, interpret body language, and to identify what behavior is appropriate and what not. You will also learn how to intervene and interrupt play that has become inappropriate. I will show you games that you can play with your dog that will enhance your training and socialization.

Potty training is one of the first challenges that show up when your puppy arrives at home. How to create a situation in your house that will allow your puppy to be successful will be part of this group's session. 

 

Additionally, we learn to see and read the signs that your puppy needs to go potty. You will also learn how to teach your dog to signal that he needs a potty break. Usually the next most often mentioned challenge is mouthiness and play biting. How to react and manage these behaviors will be another focus in this class.
